Ridgway – August 2018

After leaving Cortez, we headed up to Ridgway on the way to Park City. Destination was the RAT Trails. While I had thoroughly enjoyed Phil’s World, the RAT Trails were equally as fun with bigger mountains as the scenery.

The drive over the San Juan mountains was not as smoky as it had been in Cortez.

First sight from hotel window in Cortez. It would be long day before we arrived in Park City.

It was nice to arrive in Ridgway kind of early in day so we could ride as many of the trails as possible. Our friends Jim and Tracy had ridden here before and said we would love it. They were right!

Our route was: Big Cheese – Splinter – Speedy Gonzalez – Big Cheese – Ratical – Lower Ratical – Plagueground – North RAT Access – Karni Mata – North RAT Access – Double Crosser – Lower Double Crosser – Rat Trap – Squeeker – The Maze – Back to Parking Lot

Relentless pursuit of squiggles

After riding, we headed to Fruita for some pizza at Hot Tomato. That place is always good. I still wish I tried the Pallisade peach pizza.

…drink beer and make love

“Our pie is hot” – how can you not like that?

It was now off to Park City for the next four days.
