Mt. Osceola – June 2018

After getting rained out on the Pemi Loop, the group rented an airbnb near Lincoln, NH. There were several 4,000 ft peaks around that area and we choose to ascend Mt. Osceola. This was also Eric’s 50th birthday. David and I decided to hammer it up to Osceola Peak. When we got there, the clouds were patchy so we got a view. By the time the rest of the group got there we were socked in. Bob decided to head back down Osceola trail and relocate the vehicle to the trailhead where we would be finishing.

The trail continued on to East Osceola Peak before descending down what I would generously call a chute toward Greeley Ponds trail. It dropped close to 1,500ft in 2 miles. Josh and David arrived at the junction and it started raining – first a drizzle then coming down pretty good. We decided to get going toward the car. I am not a runner, but I just wanted to be done with the rain so ran the last four miles back to waiting RAD van. Made for an epic day.

After being out in the rain, it was nice to go back to a house with a bed. It also allowed us to dry everything out after getting soaked on the Pemi Loop.
