After a bit of hunting for June Wash I made it up to Diablo Peak. See the write-up here.
Exploring the sights in Blair Valley
Didn’t realized until reading the sign after descending that Marshal South homestead is on Ghost Mountain. Check out the write-up and photos here.

Took a quick 2-day trip to Anza Borrego State Park. Here are some details on hike to Whale Peak via Smuggler Canyon.

Borrego Badlands

1st CNF ride since all this rain started
I hadn’t ridden in the Cleveland National Forest since before Christmas. There was a break in the rain so I decided to ride Maple Springs to Silverado Motorway with a detour to Modjeska Peak. A few washouts on the Motorway, but surprisingly the trails are in good shape given how much rain has been received this winter (my backyard weather station says 22″ since 10/1/2018).
Desert Riding with Anders
For the fourth weekend in a row, it was raining in the OC so we hit the desert. Route was up Dunn to s/t by Wild Horse -Vandeventer -Dry Wash – Palm Canyon – Indian Potrero – Dry Wash – Hahn – Wild Horse – Cathedral. It was an ambitious route, but we knew what we were getting into.
It was quite a bit warmer this day over the previous few weeks. All the washes had signs of a lot of water flow. Be sure to check the video of creek along Indian Potrero.
La Quinta Cove
I have been going to La Quinta for almost 20 years and never taken time to explore the cove trails. There are a bunch of trails that criss-cross the cove area and then one that heads to Lake Cahuilla along with Boo Hoff. At the high point there was a great view that stretched from the Little San Bernardino mountains to Salton Sea. Most of the trail is in the shadow of Toro Peak.
Art Smith – Hopalong Cassidy
February was pretty rainy here so I again headed to the desert for an Art Smith – Hopalong Cassidy loop via Dunn Rd/Wild Horse/Vandeventer/Dry Wash. 31 miles and 5.2k of climbing.
Riding above Cathedral Canyon
Eric and I escaped the rain in early February to ride the trails off Dunn Rd. Our route was up Dunn until reaching the valley overlooking Wildhorse.
