Saw first snake for 2019!

Every year around this time I look forward to seeing my first snake of the season. This year it was a juvenile rattlesnake on Santiago Truck Trail.

1st CNF ride since all this rain started

I hadn’t ridden in the Cleveland National Forest since before Christmas. There was a break in the rain so I decided to ride Maple Springs to Silverado Motorway with a detour to Modjeska Peak. A few washouts on the Motorway, but surprisingly the trails are in good shape given how much rain has been received this winter (my backyard weather station says 22″ since 10/1/2018).

Desert Riding with Anders

For the fourth weekend in a row, it was raining in the OC so we hit the desert. Route was up Dunn to s/t by Wild Horse -Vandeventer -Dry Wash – Palm Canyon – Indian Potrero – Dry Wash – Hahn – Wild Horse – Cathedral. It was an ambitious route, but we knew what we were getting into.

It was quite a bit warmer this day over the previous few weeks. All the washes had signs of a lot of water flow. Be sure to check the video of creek along Indian Potrero.

La Quinta Cove

I have been going to La Quinta for almost 20 years and never taken time to explore the cove trails. There are a bunch of trails that criss-cross the cove area and then one that heads to Lake Cahuilla along with Boo Hoff. At the high point there was a great view that stretched from the Little San Bernardino mountains to Salton Sea. Most of the trail is in the shadow of Toro Peak.
